This leader role enables a team that designs, engineers, and provides daily operational support of processes and tools related to IT job scheduling on mainframe and distributed systems as well as mainframe source control throughout their service lifecycles This team updates and creates schedules, allocates datasets, sets up report distribution, and sets up tape retention.

This team ensures that all scheduled IT batch job processes run successfully, and any abnormal terminations are resolved in the most effective, least disruptive manner with the objective to minimize any adverse batch job related impact to the IT environment.

The Source Control function is responsible for maintaining the Corporate Standards for MVS mainframe application code migration. The Corporate Standards include: MVS JCL, MVS Job Class Description, and MVS Naming.

The team also provides advisory services to the business, application, or infrastructure teams to deliver the design of effective job scheduling and source control plans. The plan needs to provide the appropriate management and reporting to ensure the availability, performance and reliability needs of the business are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of best practice vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve IT Batch processing and Source control processes.
  • Lead the organization into more robust automation of established practices.
  • Identify, procure and rollout fit for purpose IT Job scheduling and Source Control toolsets and processes. Maintain the Corporate Standards for MVS mainframe application code migration.
  • Develop and Maintain standards for the code migration tools, specifically the DBMS Natural Loader and PanAPT Ensure Migration Security by maintaining production and test libraries and preserving data security.
  • Provide version control by ensuring checkout and check-in functionality to mitigate risks. Conduct periodic SOX reviews to ensure compliance with documented processes.
  • Ensure that the Delta standards and procedures, set by the group, are adopted, and implemented. Consult with other technology groups to ensure project or product integrity.
  • Monitors metrics, problems, trends to determine solutions, required process changes that will make the function more effective and efficient; establish a continuous improvement behavior.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations to lead the strategic business direction.
  • Communicate the Departmental leadership vision/strategy

What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)

  • 10 or more years of experience in a large, highly complex IT environment.
  • At least 7 years in IT Infrastructure and Application Performance Monitoring.
  • Proven experience in establishing strategy and leading the effective implementation of an IT Job Scheduling and Source
  • Control vision.
  • Proven experience in building a team of highly skilled technical personnel to deliver on the organizations vision.
  • A good understanding of IT Service Provision and qualifying factors in order to assess how customer requirements will affect delivery
  • Strong leadership ability with a track record of developing people and achieving challenging objectives.
  • Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills.
  • Fosters open communication by encouraging the expression of ideas and opinions.
  • Assures smooth flowing, timely transmission of critical information.
  • Oral and written communication is well organized, clear, accurate, grammatically correct, and is adapted for the target audience.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
