Amazon Senior Project Engineering Manager, AMZL UK Field Engineering

Amazon is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Project Engineering Manager that can drive innovation, standardization and expansion in the Amazon logistics (AMZL) network. As a member of the UK/IE Field Engineering team you will be responsible for managing a broad range of exciting deployment projects including new launches, Automated solutions, Material Handling Equipment (MHE) re-layouts and other building retrofit improvements.

Location within UK can differ from Manchaster upon agreement with HM and Talent Acquisition.

Key job responsibilities
• Managing highly complex concurrent projects related to the deployment of engineering solutions in delivery stations of UK/IE Amazon Logistics (AMZL) network.
• Owning a program or a portfolio of projects related to launches or retrofits of different technology types including Automation, Material Handling Equipment or other building improvement projects.
• Leading the whole project/program lifecycle from concept and budgeting creation to handover at completion to relevant stakeholders.
• Handling independently or with minimal guidance different tactical phases of the projects/program. This may include dealing with substantial constraints related to resource allocation, capex and timelines linked to business requirements.
• Interacting with Senior level management across different functions to provide trade off solutions that satisfy potential conflicts
• Identifying inefficiencies of processes or standards within the allocated country or at European level and proactively leading improvements with the relevant teams

A day in the life

You will plan and manage execution of engineering projects in AMZL delivery stations primarily across UK/IE or EU if required. Your day could include cross-functional engagement within the organization to agree program strategy, attend the site to monitor deployment progresses, plan and manage resources to execute activities according to business goals, enable efficient mechanisms to handover to customers. You will make strategic decisions on behalf of the business and see the outcome come to fruition through coordination of stakeholders, both internal and third party, and finally celebrating the successful launch of the project… Day One for all of us!

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent
• Working experience in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in the commissioning of automated machinery and entire systems
• Working experience as Project Manager of multiple complex projects or as Program manager
• Working experience in managing project/program lifecycle on cross-functional aspects (i.e. Budget creation, vendor tendering, execution, handover to customer mechanisms etc.)
• Proficiency in engineering design tools: AutoCAD or similar
• Proficiency in planning and analysis tools: Excel & Microsoft Project or similar
• Experience in managing multiple stakeholders to deliver projects/program including external vendors
• Experience in working with analysis tools for KPI reporting (i.e. PowerBI or similar)
• Knowledge of Six Sigma analytical and process improvement techniques

Preferred Qualifications
• Master Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with working within Logistics Automated environment
• Analytical skills and data driven approach
• Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environment
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proficient oral and written communications skills. Collaborates well in a team environment. Sensitive to clients’ needs, can develop trusting client relationships
