Oak Ridge, TN | Microsoft 365 Engineer | Full-time

We are actively recruiting a Microsoft 365 Engineer for our client in Oak Ridge, TN. This is a long-term contract opportunity. The position is qualified as fully remote, but candidates would ideally be within driving distance of Oak Ridge, as there would be a few onsite meetings per year. 8-10 years of experience with Microsoft systems and products preferred. As part of this team, you will design, implement, maintain, and support Microsoft 365 systems and associated infrastructure, including all related applications, servers and services. You will be given ownership to fully invest in tasks associated with both new and ongoing Microsoft 365-based needs! Must be capable in leading the resolution, remediation, and optimization for all Microsoft 365-based issues, while also working with engineering requirements and providing strategic recommendations to management.

Due to client request, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Assessing, planning, migrating, deploying, and managing Microsoft 365 services.

Handling Microsoft Office 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.

Ensuring the security and integrity of Microsoft 365 systems.

Providing technical support to users.

For servers running on-premises Exchange services:

  • Supporting various operating systems and in install applications depending upon compatibility.
  • Performing regular operating systems disk space checks and maintain current software versions.

Managing Exchange server development and implement new services and functionality.

Performing/Running routine server diagnostics on services.

For M365 incidents, ensuring incidents are resolved with SLAs.

Documenting system configurations and build standards for client environments.

Communicating with clients as required: keeping them informed of project progress, impending changes, and agreed upon outages.

Researching, evaluating, and recommending the selection of M365 related tools and emerging technologies for clients.

Collaborating with end-users for the purpose of designing and implementing solutions and design recommendations.

Creating and maintaining precise and effective documentation for designs, processes and projects.

Basic Qualifications:

A BS in information systems, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, business, or a related field of study and five (5) to seven (7) years of aligned experience is required; overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered.

4 years of proven experience in:

  • Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
  • Microsoft Conditional Access, Information Protection, Information Governance, and Insider Risk Management

Seeker of learning new technologies

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Self-starter that can perform at a high level with minimal direction.

Strong attention to detail while working in a diverse team environment.

A basic professional level of knowledge and experience in applying technical principles and theories, as well as a solid understanding of the concepts and techniques used in Microsoft Exchange.

Preferred Qualifications:

Four (4) years of proven experience in each of the following areas:

  • Exchange Migrations (Hybrid, O365 Tenant to Tenant, Hosted to Cloud)
  • Configuration, troubleshooting and support of Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Government Community Cloud (GCC)

Ability to write and modify PowerShell scripts.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Purview.
