A rare opportunity has arisen in the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service (WGLS) in Salisbury, to appoint a permanent full-time IT Support Analyst within our dynamic genomics IT team.
WGLS is fundamentally dependent on effective and well-maintained IT resources. In liaison with the wider Trust IT department, the genomics IT team are responsible for the installation and maintenance of the IT estate within our busy, progressive genomics laboratory.
As the successful candidate, you will enjoy a varied role within this team including administering a range of specialist IT systems and supporting staff with their use, problem resolution, routine service provision and maintenance tasks, and assisting with the preparation of audits for internal and external consumption. The role will be flexible in scope with potential for project or development work depending on your experience and aptitude.
Applicants should have experience in IT service support, knowledge of one or more computer system(s), hardware or software, acquired through a diploma or equivalent experience/qualification, advanced European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent knowledge.

The role will be responsible for :
a) Monitor and resolve issues within systems
b) Install end-user systems client software as required
c) Provide IT Support to users across the laboratory service
The successful candidate will have :
a) Great problem-solving skills
b) Diploma in Information Management or IT, or equivalent knowledge/experience.
c) Prioritisation skills
Employment for this role will be with UHS, but the role will be based at WGLS (Salisbury), which is currently located in Salisbury District Hospital. There is a plan to re-locate the two sections of the laboratory to a joint facility in the Southampton area and any such move will be subject to a minimum of 1 year’s prior notice.
